The Current King thinks ordinaries make the elites sick. That’s why he banished the ordinary people to keep his Elite society pure. Those having no powers would become a crime. But Paedyn is very clever, as her father trained her. She pretends to be psychic, so her identity is never exposed.

The annual trial comes around yearly, involving the more powerful elites showing off their powers. The society naturally selects people. Kai and Paedyn were selected. The show had fantastic fight scenes. When Paedyn accidentally saves one of Ilya’s princes, Kai, is the king’s future enforcer.

Paedyn and Kai’s Meetup:

They meet when Paedyn picks Kai’s pocket of a whole lot of silver and ends up saving his life. They form hidden feelings for each other during purging trails. The back-and-forward banter and hate-to-love relationship between Kai and Paedyn were incredibly entertaining. Her genuine concern and her desires pulled him towards her. They became so close at one stage. Paedyn’s choices and Kai’s perspective would be heavier and more emotional.

In conclusion, Powerless is a perfect read that brings back nostalgic energy. It does have its twists on classic tropes, which keeps the story refreshing. It has a Hunger Games and Red Queen vibes. The characters are entertaining. It has a fantastic storyline. It is highly recommended for reading.
