Plot Review:
Quintana, John Gregory Dunne and Joan Didion’s only child fell ill a few days before Christmas 2003 with what appeared to be the flu, pneumonia, and then complete septic shock. She was put on life support and put into an induced coma. A few days later, on the night before New Year’s Eve, John Gregory Dunne suffered a massive and fatal coronary while the Dunnes were just sitting down to dinner after visiting the hospital.
This forty-year close, symbiotic partnership came to an end in a split second. After a month, their girl got through. She collapsed two months later when she got to LAX, and she had six hours of brain surgery at UCLA Medical Center to get rid of a big hematoma.
