Mr. Lockwood portrays his visit to Wuthering Heights and encounters supernatural forces which discontent Lockwood’s curiosity. Mr. Earnshaw brings home the boy named Heathcliff who is an orphan from Liverpool. Mr. Earnshaw’s daughter, Catherine, who develops a strong friendship bond with Heathcliff while his son Hindley is jealous of Mr. Earnshaw’s close relationship with Heathcliff.

After the death of Mr. Earnshaw, Hindley becomes the master of Wuthering Heights and puts down Heathcliff to servant status. Catherine marries a rich man named Edgar Linton, while Heathcliff marries Edgar’s sister so that he can inherit her money. Catherine dies while giving birth to a daughter named Cathy. Heathcliff gains ownership of Wuthering Heights after the death of Edgar Linton. Heathcliff dies too and he rejoins his beloved Catherine.
