To calm the family, Stiva announces that his married sister Anna Arkadyevna Karenina will be visiting from Saint Petersburg. Konstantin Dmitrievich Levin, also known as “Kostya,” Stiva’s childhood friend, arrives in Moscow to propose to Dolly’s youngest sister, Princess Katerina Alexandrovna Shcherbatskaya, also known as “Kitty.”
